Moscow International Festival of Gardens and Flowers Moscow Flower Show. Seventh Moscow Flower Festival in Muzeon Exhibition of gardens and flowers in Muzeon

Do you love flowers as much as we love them? Do you know how to care for a Japanese garden and when to plant peonies? Do you want to see how flowers are crossed and baptized? From June 29 to July 8, come to the Muzeon Art Park and get inspired.

The VII Moscow Flower Show festival of gardens and flowers will be held on the territory of our park and Zaryadye Park. This is the main event in the field of landscape design in Russia, which brings together the best masters and experts from all over the world. Visitors will be treated to an exhibition of works by the competition winners and designer gardens of world-famous landscape designers, a competition of mini-kindergartens, master classes and a show program. Moscow Flower Show-2018 will be the largest in its history.

English landscape designers Paul Brooks and James Alexander-Sinclair will build their own gardens at the festival - “Prometheus Garden” and “Listening garden/listening theater”. The organizers of the festival could not ignore the main topic of this summer - the holding of the World Cup in Russia. In honor of this event, a giant soccer ball 3 meters high will be built from fresh flowers at the Moscow Flower Show.

On June 29, a presentation of a new variety of one of the most beautiful flowers in the world - paniculata hydrangea - will take place. According to existing practice, the new variety will undergo a “baptism” procedure with the participation of three godmothers at once: the Ambassador of France to Russia Madame Sylvie Bermann, the President of the festival Karina Lazareva and the representative of the French nursery Renault Tatyana Smirnova. The new variety was named “Pearl of the Festival”. For a year from September 1, hydrangea will be distributed only in Russia.

In 2018, Japan will participate in the Moscow festival for the first time. July 5 will be the theme day of Japan at the festival, there will be a tea ceremony from the masters of the famous Omote Senke school (one of the three main schools in Japan) with refreshments for everyone, master classes on sumi-yo (drawing on rice paper) and creating temari balls , the educational program will include lectures on creating a Japanese garden, and a Japanese kimono made from fresh flowers will appear on one of the main alleys of Muzeon Park.

This year, for the first time, two children’s projects are planned for MFS-2018 - “Gardens in Miniature” and “Planet of Flowers”. “Planet of Flowers” is a traditional competition of gardens made from children’s drawings; this year they were invited to create their own sketches of gardens on the theme “Dream Park”.

On the opening day of the Moscow Flower Show, all contestants will be congratulated by the participants of the show “The Voice. Children".

Main gardens of MFS-2018:

James Alexander-Sinclair "Listening garden/listening theatre"

Landscape fashion star, designer James Alexander-Sinclair is the chairman of the jury of the world's most prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, a favorite of the Queen of England and the permanent head of the jury of the Moscow festival. For the first time in Moscow he debuts with his garden and this is certainly the event of the year. The name of the garden immediately sets the audience in the right mood - the designer invites them to listen to the sounds of nature, to understand how eloquent the language of plants can be, how similar the play of chiaroscuro in the garden is to theatrical effects.

Paul Harvey Brooks. "Prometheus Garden"

Another famous Briton makes a direct reference to the myth of Prometheus in the name of his garden. Walking through Paul Brooks's garden, visitors can find similarities to the landscape where the mythical hero suffered torment for daring to give people fire and independence from the will of the gods.

Ozerova Olga, Dvoryadkina Tatyana. "Beyond the seas, beyond the forests"

The authors of this garden were inspired by the works of the Russian avant-garde artist Natalia Goncharova and, in particular, her sketches for the opera-ballet The Golden Cockerel. The garden is designed in burgundy, ocher and blue-gray palettes and transports visitors to a space of creativity and drama.

Oksana Khleborodova. "VDNKh - with love"

The designer was inspired by the "Floriculture and Gardening" pavilion, built at the country's main exhibition in the 70s. According to the author, the building delights her with its brutality and boldness of architectural thought. The garden is a fragment of the real environment of the pavilion and a possible option for its landscape arrangement.

Kordubaeva Maria, Noskova Oksana, Nikitina Anna. "Tea party in Sokolniki"

During the heyday of “tea shops” in Russia at the end of the 19th century, “Falcon tea parties” became popular throughout Moscow. In the depths of the parks, so-called “offices” were built, where families came with their snacks, and the owners of the “offices” provided them with a hot samovar and a kettle.

Lazareva Tatyana, Smirnova Tatyana. "Grain De Perle"

Garden-tribute to the “people's countess” Praskovya Zhemchugova. 2018 marks exactly 250 years since her birth. The amazing love story of a serf actress and Count Sheremetyev became the basis for the creation of this garden. In the 18th century, French regular gardens with their symmetrical alleys, classic rectangular pond and decorative sculptures were very popular in Russia. "Grain De Perle" pays tribute to the romantic era and the great love story.

Kravchenko Diana, Razevskaya Evelina. "Diving into Sleep"

One of the most unusual works at the Moscow Flower Show festival. The mystical atmosphere of the garden is created by the concept of refraction of space and the use of wood, stones and light-reflecting materials.

Leontyeva Lydia. "Partisan"

The dominant feature of this composition is the sculpture of a partisan girl who stood up to defend her Motherland. The garden is a floral boulengrin in the traditional contrasting colors of the Stalinist Empire style. A unique element of the garden is the lanterns, recreated according to the design of the architect Dmitry Chechulin.

Despite such a cool, at times harsh and surprising summer with sudden climatic changes, the VI Moscow International Festival of Gardens and Flowers Moscow Flower Show was successfully held in the Moscow Art Park “Museon” from June 29 to July 9. Rains and thunderstorms did not in the least affect the beauty organized by the festival, which over the 6 years of its existence received the title of the most authoritative platform in the field of Russian landscape design.

Our editorial team visited the Moscow Festival of Gardens and Flowers, we walked around the entire exhibition and received great aesthetic pleasure. It is worth noting that this year more than 200 representatives of the landscape industry from 12 countries took part in the festival.

Those who did not manage to get to the Moscow Flower Show 2017 will be able to enjoy photographs of the most interesting, in our opinion, competition entries and see the winners of various nominations. The projects were evaluated by a reputable international jury, chaired by James Alexander-Sinclair, judge of the Royal Horticultural Society, and Princess Marie-Solle de la Tour d'Auvergne, vice-president of the French Parks and Gardens Foundation.

The shooting was taken during a light rain, which did not at all diminish the beauty of the compositions; all the plants demonstrate freshness and rich colors that did not have time to fade in the hot sun. A rainy and gloomy evening created a romantic mood. Some projects look like mysterious islands of a fairy-tale magical forest. Perhaps some ideas can inspire you to organize your own piece of paradise on a country plot.

Enjoy watching!
